What is Stellar inflation?
On May 14th, we announced that we have begun the process of claiming Stellar inflation rewards for eligible Poloniex customers. Going forward, a weekly Stellar inflation snapshot will occur every Monday at 8pm and eligible users will receive their Stellar Inflation distribution each Tuesday. This is a free service offered by Poloniex & Circle to enable our customers to benefit from the unique properties of the Stellar network while maintaining the ability to trade. When is the weekly Stellar balance snapshot?
The weekly balance snapshot occurs at 8pm ET on Monday, every week.
When will my account be credited with the Stellar inflation?
You will be credited with Stellar inflation on Tuesday of each week if you meet the eligibility criteria at the time of the balance snapshot.
How many Stellar do I need to hold to participate in the Stellar inflation?
You must hold at least 1 STR in your Poloniex account at the time of the weekly Stellar balance snapshot.
Are there any other requirements to be eligible for Stellar inflation?
Eligible customers who held STR on Poloniex during the balance snapshot of May 20th or any successive Monday will receive Stellar inflation for that week. In order to qualify for Stellar inflation on any given week, your account must meet the following criteria at the time of the weekly snapshot:
- You must have your verification status as ‘Verified’ (found at www.poloniex.com/profile)
Your account must be in good standing (not closed or frozen)
We are not able to provide Stellar inflation to customers located in prohibited countries or jurisdictions highlighted in the Poloniex User Agreement
Help! My account was frozen during the snapshot and I didn’t receive my inflation.
How will my account be credited with the Stellar inflation?
Your account will be credited weekly with the Stellar inflation. The inflation will be a credit to your STR balance in the form of a deposit. Look for the colorful Earnings icon in your deposit history to know that you’ve received new inflation!
Does Poloniex charge a fee for Stellar inflation?
No! We provide Stellar inflation to our eligible customers free of charge.
How will this credit look in my account?
Does Poloniex need to vote for itself in order to qualify for inflation?
Yes, we must submit a vote for our own account and you can see how voting works here. Our cold wallet will vote for our hot wallet.
Is receiving Stellar a taxable event for customers?
We recommend reaching out to a tax professional for more information.
If my Stellar is lent out during the weekly snapshot, will I still receive the inflation reward?
No, during the duration of a loan your Stellar is not counted as yours; it is counted as the borrower's. However, if you have an order or loan that is unfilled during the snapshot, you will still receive the inflation reward.
Where do I find my history of Stellar inflation deposits for accounting purposes?
Navigate to your Deposit & Withdrawal History and tap the Export Adjustments link. This will download a CSV file containing your history of earnings on Poloniex.
